This weekend will see four teams compete to win £10,000 in the Roodee Challenge Polo Tournament at Chester Racecourse, with play taking place on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September. The four teams taking part are: Stella Artois, MBNA, ITC Luxury Travel and LDF.
Alongside the polo, there are also events for all the family, with free children’s entertainment on Saturday, including bungee trampolines and bouncy castles. Admission is free on Friday and £8 per person on Saturday (free entry for under 17’s accompanied by an adult). Spectators are welcome to bring their own picnic or sample the food available in the shopping village located pitch-side.
All those partaking in a spot of traditional treading-in at half time will have the opportunity to win a bottle of champagne, if they can find the silver cork hidden amongst the divots. If you’ve yet to try your hand on an Equisizer, Chester Polo Academy’s life size replica pony and a polo instructor will be on hand to put you through your paces – free to try, but donations are being taken for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Matches start at 2pm with gates open from 11.30am on both days.
