The Porsche Challenge Cup was help at Santísima Trinidad, a farm outside the city of San Miguel de Allende, three hours North of Mexico DF. North America and South America battled it out in a four chukka exhibition game, as a way of celebrating American Independence Day.
Two thousand spectators gathered to watch the game and to enjoy the day’s events. The bad weather held off and North America managed to beat South America 3 goals to 2 in an attractive match. The Secretary of Tourism of the Guanajuato State, Fernando Olivera Rocha, headed to Santísima Trinidad especially to watch the game.
Brandon Philips was the top goal scorer, scoring 3 goals for his team; Phillips was named MVP of the match. Rodolfo Ramos and Oscar Garibay scored 2 goals for the losing South American side.
After the match an extraordinary show featuring American singer Gloria Gaynor delighted guests.
The North American Team was formed of Billy Stetta, Jeff Blacke, Brandon Philips and Roberto González Gracida, while Carlos Hernández, Rodolfo Ramos, Martín Tassara and Oscar Garibay fought for South America.
