The Foxes to take on Maitha's Men

foxKing Power Foxes and UAE Polo Team reach the Final of The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup

Strongly fought matches yesterday, 15 July, decided the outcome of the Semi Finals of The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup. It is not surprising that the favourites, UAE and King Power Foxes, have made it to the Final, having dominated over their opposition throughout this tournament. Neither team are yet to lose a match, and their latest wins are testament to their form.
In the first Semi Final yesterday, UAE took on Sir Charles ‘Cow’ Williams’ Apes Hill Club, winning 14-8, having steadily held on to their lead since their 7-3 half-time score. UAE broke their run of impressive wins by only putting one goal over Thai Polo on Wednesday 8 July, to win 7-6. Prior to this they had beaten all their opponents by a margin of at least eight goals.
In the second match, a half-time score of 7-3 belied King Power Foxes’ lead over Zacara. Lyndon Lea’s well-established high goal team were left high and dry after a 15-9 win knocked them out of the competition. King Power Foxes’ win in The Cartier Queen’s Cup has placed them amongst the favourites in this tournament, a prediction they have most definitely fulfilled.

All thoughts now turn to the Final on Sunday 19 July, the outcome of which is the subject of speculation by all in the polo world. It remains to be seen whether the Srivaddhanaprabha side will triumph, or whether Sheikha Maitha’s team can bring home the gold.
