The Silver Cup has reached new heights in the polo world; matching the world’s finest players with the Italian luxury automotive marque and its newly designed outerwear. Equally celebrated for its prestige, horsepower and sporting performance, polo is the perfect complement to the Maserati marque. As this year’s title sponsor, Maserati was the prominent marque on the playing field at the 2015 USPA Maserati Silver Cup tournament.
Maserati kicked off the 2015 edition of its “Maserati Polo Tour” in partnership with international sports and leisure apparel brand La Martina this May at various venues across Europe, where the “Made in Italy” car manufacturer is named title and team sponsor of the world’s most elite polo events.
The Maserati Team’s horsepower was on full display with dynamic plays by Steven Krueger, Jesse Bray, Mike Azarro and Justin Klentner. The action-packed match was held at one of the US’s oldest and most prestigious tournaments, first established in 1974; at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. At the conclusion of a thrilling and close match, the Farmers and Merchants Bank Team took home top honors by winning 13-11 over Maserati Team.
VIPs including actress Natasha Henstridge were on hand, joined by loyal spectators and polo enthusiasts. Alan Thicke also made an appearance Silver Cup weekend to honor the Maserati team and experience the thrill of Maserati in person.
Christian Gobber, President & CEO of Maserati North America, Inc. said: “Polo is a unique sport that respects a time honored tradition representing power, passion and performance, a perfect pairing for Maserati. We are proud to partner with La Martina to outfit the Maserati team in such a prestigious sporting event that is equally synonymous with our own design ethos; a well-suited match indeed”.
At the distinguished event Maserati showcased an array of its 2015 models including the winning Ghibli sports sedan, flagship Quattroporte model and stylish GranTurismo Coupe and Convertible models.
