Murus Sanctus and Dubai scored wins on the opening day of the high-goal Silver Cup, the first tournament of the 44th International Polo Tournament, at Santa María Polo Club, Sotogrande. They beat La Indiana and Lechuza Caracas, respectively.
A large number of people watched two fantastic polo games played on Los Pinos grounds.
In the first game, Corinne Ricard’s Murus Sanctus, featuring Facundo Sola, defeated La Indiana 13-10. Murus Sanctus took a wide advantage in the first part of the match allowing them to control the action and secure a very important debut win.
Next came a very expected contest between Dubai and Lechuza Caracas, which Dubai won 12-10. It was a very even match until the fifth chukker, when Rashid Albwardy’s team, led by Adolfo Cambiaso, took the lead after two consecutive goals by Albwardy. Cambiaso then converted two penalties to secure Dubai’s win.
The high-goal Silver Cup will resume on Wednesday July 29 with the following schedule: Dos Lunas vs. RH Polo at 5.30pm and Ayala vs. HB, at 7pm.
