Hot weather did not stop polo fans from gathering at Santa María de Lobos, the Caset family club, in Lobos. The world’s top polo players were there to take part in a polo charity match. While some of them being scheduled to play the upcoming semifinals of the Hurlingham Open, Adolfo Cambiaso, Agustin Merlos, Santiago Toccalino, Pelon Stirling and Sapo Caset definitely didn’t want to miss this special occasion.
Together with the Caset family, many people were glad to help and give a hand – players, grooms, sponsors and everybody who cooperated in the first edition of Polo Solidario Cup, in aid of “Salita de Primeros Auxilios de Cuartel 8”, Paraje La Porteña. The event was hosted by Iván de Pineda and guests enjoyed a fantastic lunch, prepared by chef Agustin Mallmann, and complemented with the high quality wines of Rutini Vineyards.
In the match, Hyundai (Claudio Huerta, Adolfo Cambiaso, Tincho Merlos and Santiago Toccalino) beat ICBC (Pelon Stirling, Sapo Caset, Salvador Ulloa and Jose Maria Lopez) by 10 goals to 9. This generous initiative by the Caset family in the first edition of the Polo Solidario was much appreciated. There are already plans to repeat the event next year, possibly at La Dolfina. “The idea is to repeat this event every year and keep working to strengthen the bonds between polo and charity,” stated the organisers.
