DUTTA CORP. WINS SANTA RITA ABIERTO IN FINAL CHUKKERS

(Timmy Dutta, Carlitos Gracida, Matias Magrini and Mariano Gracida) to an 8-5 win over Postage Stamp Farm Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Tommy Collingwood, Brandon Phillips and Jeff Blake) Sunday morning in a hotly-contested game that was closer than the score might indicate.
First chukker goals from Carlitos Gracida and former 10-goaler Matias Magrini were complimented by a shutout defensive effort by the Dutta Corp. lineup. At the end of the opening chukker it was 2-0, Dutta Corp.
Carlitos Gracida added his second goal of the game in the opening minutes of the second chukker, converting a 30-yard penalty shot for a 3-0 Dutta Corp. lead. Brandon Phillips finally got Postage Stamp Farm on the scoreboard with a goal from the field but it was Dutta Corp. with the 3-1 lead at the end of the chukker.
Tommy Collingwood cut the Dutta Corp/ lead down to a single goal, 3-2, with his first score of the day as Postage Stamp Farm got their offense on track. Timmy Dutta stretched the lead back to two goals, 4-2. Phillips converted a 30-yard penalty shot to end the scoring in the first half with Dutta Corp defending a 4-3, one goal advantage.
Jeff Blake opened the fourth period with a goal from the field that tied the score at 4-4. The pace of the game quickened and began to get more physical as the chukker wore on. Carlitos Gracida responded with a goal of his own to take the lead back for Dutta Corp., 5-4.
Fifth chukker goals from Mariano Gracida and Carlitos Gracida (40-yard penalty conversion) had Dutta Corp. in front by three goals, 7-4, before Postage Stamp Farm could respond. Collingwood’s second goal of the game was the only offense his team could muster, falling behind by two goals, 7-5, as the chukker ended.
Carlitos Gracida scored the final goal of the game in a contentious sixth chukker as Dutta Corp. rode on to win, 8-5.
Carlitos Gracida’s five goals led all scoring, and earned him MVP honors. Mariano Gracida, Magrini and Dutta each added a goal for the win. Phillips and Collingwood scored two goals apiece for Postage Stamp Farm. Blake was credited with a goal in the loss.
Carlitos Gracida’s pony, Tramontana, was named Best Playing Pony.
