The stage is set for the 2016 HSBC Argentine Open
Last week’s games may have produced the predictable finalists for the 2016 HSBC Argentine Open, however the real story was the progress of the four remaining teams that played the Quarter Finals.
Fred Mannix’s Alegria Assist Card have had an exemplary tournament, smashing through the rounds, gaining in strength throughout the Triple Crown series. The Pieres family were ultimately their undoing on Sunday 4 December knocking them out of the tournament with a decisive 15-11 score. It may all be over for Alegria now, but it will be exciting to watch the team in the 2017 series, or whichever high goal circuit they continue on next, perhaps America and then to England?
Cría Yatay Colony had more of a mixed bag of results with losses early on in the tournament, but success against La Aguada Las Monjitas earned them a place in the Semi Final, only to be defeated a second time in The Argentine Open by La Dolfina with a sorry score of 27-4. La Irenita also upped their game in The Argentine Open despite only being a 29 goal line-up.
The stage is now set for the last game in The Triple Crown and it is no surprise that the two powerhouses of La Dolfina Sancor Seguros and Ellerstina Johor will do battle on Saturday 10 December at the Argentine Association of Polo’s grounds in Palermo. After Ellerstina’s win in The Hurlingham Open, La Dolfina will be focusing on making it a two out of three titles for the Argentine season. Ellerstina’s quad of Pieres players will be doing their best to frustrate their efforts. It’s all to play for! Click here for all the results and team lists.
