Flexjet and Postage Stamp Farm will play for the Palm Restaurant Invitational title on Sunday at Grand Champions Polo Club.
On a perfect day for polo, Flexjet (Melissa Ganzi, Juan Bollini, Jesse Bray, Glenn Straub) survived the opening round robin with a 5-4 victory over Dutta Corp (Tim Dutta, Gene Goldstein, Jason Crowder, Carlitos Gracida) and 6-4 win over KIG (Bash Kazi, Omar Mangalji, Guille Aguero, Kris Kampsen). In the other round robin game, KIG defeated Dutta Corp, 7-5.
Ganzi and Bray led Flexjet with four goals each. Straub added two goals. Crowder scored seven goals. Kampsen and Mangalji each had five goals.
Postage Stamp Farm (Annabelle Gundlach, Marc Ganzi, JJ Celis, Nic Roldan) won a hardfought battle with an 11-8 victory over Casablanca (Tony Calle, Grant Ganzi, Juancito Bollini, Jared Sheldon).
Roldan, America’s top-rated player at 8 goals, scored a game-high five goals. Ganzi added three. Gundlach and Celis each had one. Bollini had two goals for Casablanca, which opened with a 3-0 lead based on handicap.
It will be Flexjet’s fourth consecutive championship final appearance of the fall season and first for Postage Stamp Farm. Dutta Corp and KIG were making their fall debut.
Sunday action begins with the subsidiary Cardondale Classic at 9:30 a.m. followed by the final at 11 a.m. and popular Grooms’ Race.
