Simon Arber’s Four Quarters Orange took the first final of the 2016 season – winning the Valerie Halford Memorial at Coworth Park. The orange shirts (Simon Arber, Jack Berner, Jonny Good, Tom Morley) defeated Clare Mathas’s Clarita (Clare Mathias, Mat Lodder, Freddie Horne, Chris Mackenzie) 6-5 in a close-run match.
The action had started earlier in the day when Spencer McCarthy’s Emlor (Spencer McCarthy, Ed Banner Eve, Ivan Gaona, Nacho Gonzalez) had claimed a narrow 5-4 win over Maximilian Kirchoff’s Snakebite (Maximilian Kirchoff, Tom Beim, David Ashby, George Meyrick) in the subsidiary final.
