FOUR TEAMS WITH ONE GOAL IN SIGHT: THE GOLD CUP

It’s the final countdown for the Gold Cup, the historic tournament played at Cowdray Park Polo Club. The semifinals are due on Wednesday, July 13, featuring the top four teams of the season: Valiente, King Power Foxes, Zacara and La Indiana.

Wednesday will kick off with the meeting of two giants, Cambiaso vs. Pieres – Valiente vs. King Power Foxes, a face off that many expected to happen in the final. Current title holders King Power Foxes, the Thai team led by Pieres brothers Gonzalito and Facundo, qualified for the semis following a very hard fought win against Britannia El Remanso.

On the other hand, Valiente and their leading man Adolfo Cambiaso, earnt their semifinal spot after an impressive win against Clarke & Green. The semifinal will be a very attractive match indeed: King Power Foxes, 2015 winners vs. Cambiaso, recent winner of the Queen’s Cup with Dubai.

Zacara will play La Indiana at 4pm. Zacara counts with the skills and experience of Pablo MacDonough and Lucas Monteverde. They qualified for the semifinals after beating one of the best teams of the tournament, HB. Meanwhile, La Indiana, runner-up of the Queen’s Cup, defeated Talandracas in the quarterfinals. Michael Bickford and company have surpassed expectations in a fantastic UK campaign. One of the best amateur players in the tournament, Bickford is joined by a powerful trio of professionals: Agustín Merlos, Nic Roldán and Julián de Lusarreta.

The Gold Cup is the most prestigious tournament in Europe and the second Grand Slam of the World Polo Tour. Get ready for a great day of polo at Cowdray Park Polo Club!
