The Prince of Wales Trophy Draw Announced
The season at The Royal County of Berkshire is beginning with a bang, not only is the Club celebrating its 30th Anniversary, but they have just confirmed four high goal teams for The Prince of Wales Trophy. The first round of games are scheduled for Wednesday 11 May at separate locations. Apes Hill, featuring a line-up of George Hanbury (3), Mark Tomlinson (6), Eduardo Novillo Astrada (9) and Alec White (4), will take on La Bamba de Areco with their line-up of Jean-François Decaux (0), Diego Cavanagh (8), Cristian Laprida (8) and Rodrigo Rueda (6) at Manor Farm, near Cowdray. On the same day, at the Dubai grounds at Highfield Farm, Rashid Albwardy’s Dubai Polo Team, with Kian Hall (1), Adolfo Cambiaso (10) and Juan Martin Nero (9), will take on the combined Valiente Dubai team of 1 goaler Robert Jornayvaz with his players Martin Valent (5), Guillermo Terrera (8) and Alejo Taranco (6). The tournament will be played as a knockout format with the winners of these games going through to play the Final at The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club on the afternoon of Saturday 14 May. The runner-up teams from the first round will play for The Herbert Spencer Trophy on the morning of the same day at the Dubai grounds at Highfield Farm.
This pre-Cartier Queen’s Cup tournament will be an interesting warm up for the teams and may well give a good indication of how they may perform later in the season.
