Brian Stein paid tribute to HM The Queen’s incredible contribution to polo in his welcoming speech at last night’s PJ’s Polo Party. Held at the favourite London haunt for players, Chelsea’s PJ’s Bar and Grill. Supported by Taittinger champagne, the event continues to be the polo party of the season. Now in its 26th year, Brian’s annual gathering of players at this popular Chelsea location is always the first sign that the UK polo season has begun!
Before this event began, Brian revealed what motivated him to continue to host such an event: “I am just delighted that PJ’s continues to be the preferred restaurant of choice for my fellow players and that so many of them regard my party as an essential fixture in the polo calendar. It is always wonderful to see so many friends of the game – old and new – head through the door of 52 Fulham Road on party night. And thanks to some great support from Clovis Taittinger and his wonderful champagne, we will be able to properly toast the start of another great season.”
Brian had already acknowledged the Queen’s long standing support of the game through the distinctive party invitation, designed by Chris Price. Chris was one of the many guests that packed into PJ’s and an oversized version of his invitation took centre stage behind the bar. “Although HM The Queen has never played polo, her support of the sport is hugely appreciated by the entire polo community which is why I asked everyone to raise a glass to her,” explained Brian during the evening.
The guests raised a cheer for Brian too. His passion for the game and his continued drive to ensure that the whole polo community is included on PJ’s party guest list guarantees an eclectic guest list and a great evening for all.
