Westcroft Park Host National Tournament
From 27 – 28 February Westcroft Park Polo Club will play host to the National Women’s Tournament for the arena season. This winter the tournament has been split into two handicap categories to accommodate a combination of teams and players. It is worth noting that although women’s polo tournaments can be played with women’s handicaps in the summer, the Women’s Handicap Committee have yet to announce a decision on any future introduction of women’s only arena handicaps. The higher level of 0-2 goal has four teams all with familiar women’s polo circuit names with Lucy Bowman, Alex Jacob, Georgia Sweeney and Claire Maldonado heading up each team. In the lower section (-2-0) Ash Farm, Westcroft Park and Paradise Farm will be battling it out over the two days in a double round of games. For a full list of teams, games and times click here.
Westcroft Park Polo Club are looking to continue the former Club’s reputation for women’s polo, as they will include a Women’s International later in the year. Games will begin on Saturday at 10am and on Sunday from 12 noon. Following the Finals on Sunday there will be an after party in the clubhouse. Emma Kennedy has organised an open mic night with drinks and homemade pizzas on offer, a perfect way to round off a day of polo.
The Polo Magazine will also be on hand to reward one lucky player with The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award and Polo Times will select the Polo Times Best Playing Pony. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for updates from the Final.
