LAHORE – Polo ‘d’ Sufi outlasted favourites Diamond Paints 5-3 in the Diamond Paints-sponsored Pakistan Polo Cup 2016 crucial match and set main final clash against Master Paints/Newage to be played at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Sunday.
Both Polo ‘d’ Sufi and Diamond Paints played neck-n-neck and were tied at 2-2 at the end of the second chukker. But Polo ‘d’ Sufi then played attacking polo and succeeded in smashing three more goals in the next chukkers while Diamond Paint could manage only one. When the final whistle was blown, Polo ‘d’ Sufi were leading by 5-3. For the winners, Ahmed Ali Tiwana was top scorer with his hat-trick while for the losers, Raja Samiullah scored a brace.
In another match of the day, ZTBL outclassed Army Whites 13-2 to book their berths in the subsidiary final where they will take on Army Remounts. Saqib Khan Khakwani was star of the day as he hammered double hat-trick for the winners while Raja Taimur Nadeem slammed fantastic four.
