POLO MEETS HOLLYWOOD IN MAY

Hollywood-4Will Rogers State Historic Park, Los Angeles
The Hollywood Cup, part of the Pacific Polo Tour, will take place on May 7th, 2016. This event will bring together the adrenaline pumping action of a highly competitive polo match with the passion of the most sophisticated and desirable audience.
Guests will be invited to a lively Saturday featuring a gourmet lunch and cocktails, music, a special prize ceremony and an exhibition polo match.
The spot selected for this event is none other than the Will Rogers State Historic Park, former estate of the American humorist and poloist. It lies in the Santa Monica mountains in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. Rogers bought the property in 1922, where he built a small weekend cottage, and in 1926 constructed a polo field on the land. The track attracted the company of elite hollywood celebrities including Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Darryl Zanuck, Hal Roach and Walt Disney. After the passing of Rogers and his wife, the estate was declared a State Park in 1944.
The ranch is maintained in its original state and reflects Will Rogers’ roots in horsemanship. The polo field is now the only outdoor polo field in the Los Angeles County. Today, some of the most important polo tournaments in the USA take place in this park.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Will Rogers Ranch Foundation whose mission is to keep Will’s legacy alive at the park.
