Casa de Campo hosted an exquisite treat for it’s new polo community, in the form of a Charity match featuring the mighty Adolfo Cambiaso, and his teammates from the team that broke all records, La Dolfina, Juan Martin Nero and David Stirling Jr. The ten goaler said were distributed over the two teams, Maserati and Royal Salute, along Nacho Novillo, Cubi Toccalino and Pancho Benson, and completed with the great patrons Victor Vargas and Bob Jornayvaz, to make up the numbers and give the DR its highest goal game to date… 30 goals
Pelon and Juanma played together with Victor and Bensadon, while Adolfo’s team consisted of his US team mate and Patron Bob Jornayvaz as well as Nacho Novillo and Cubi Toccalino…
The score was opened up by The Master himself scoring his first goal on Dominican soil.
Victor Vargas was the first to reply and scored another in the fifth. The score line remained equal right until the end with neither team getting ahead by more than a goal at a time.
A low scoring game but full of thrills as the 10 goalers played the ball from any angle regardless of the bounce. Cambiaso himself was able to live up to his legendary status and flick balls into the air hitting them at full swing while the crowd gasped..
The final score? A satisfying 6-6 draw for a successful charity exhibition game.
