The awaited Cote D´Azur Polo Cup started today at Saint Tropez Polo Club, with both 10- and 18- goal matches.
The opening 10 goal game was between La Bien Mirada and Cibao La Pampa, both teams which are playing their first season in St Tropez. La Bien Mirada reached halftime a one goal advantage (5-4). Despite the efforts of Juan Pepa’s Cibao La Pampa, La Bien Mirada managed to win the match 8-5.
The following game saw St.Tropez / Outsiders vs Tenderworks. Corine Schuler’s teams started with 1.5 goals advantage due to hsndicap. Helen Goddard-Watts’s foursome quickly showed their power. Four goals from newcomer Juani Gonzalez and others from Juan Martin Garcia Laborde gave Tenderworks an 8-2.5 advantage. From that point on, their superiority on the field was obvious and Tenderworks won the game 10-4.5.
In the afternoon, the first 18 goal game was played on Field 3 as F Polo and La Indiana opened fire. Stars such as Polito Pieres, Jaime Garcia Huidobro and Ruki Bailleu made their debur at Saint Tropez. La Indiana tried to dominate F Polo, but the local team stood its ground and beat La Indiana 11-7.
The Cote D’Azur Polo Cup will resume on Friday with the following fixture:
* 10am, 10 goals: Los Lobos vs Los Nocheros, field 4.
* 11am, 10 goals: La Concepción vs Sezz, field 4.
* 6pm, 18 goals: King Power vs Composite Works, field 1.
