The Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup 2017

As one of the most popular annual events among the international polo community, the largest snow polo tournament in the world is going to be held for the sixth year running, at the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club from 17th to 22nd January 2017.

 

Six nationally selected top teams from Argentina, Australia, England, Hong Kong China, South Africa and USA will be gathering from six continents at this world-class standard polo venue in China again to deliver a winter polo extravaganza for all polo fans.

 

The Metropolitan Polo Club is keen to use this platform to encourage more interest and enthusiasm in polo, as well as provide an opportunity for polo players to practice their skills in authentic competitions and for polo fans to feel the charm of the sport and its chivalrous spirit.

Teams: From 5 Nations and 1 SAR Region (Argentina, Australia, England, Hong Kong China, South Africa and the USA)

 

Handicap:           14 – 16 Goals

 

Play Format: The Tournament is played open. (i.e. Teams do not receive any handicap start or played off the stick). 5 days of play. 6 Teams have been drawn into 2 Leagues. Each league has 3 teams. Teams play each other within the Leagues. Semi-¬finals: Top team league 1 vs Second team league 2 & Top team league 2 vs Second team league 1. Final: Semi-final Winners.

 

Rules and Regulations: The tournament will be played under the Federation of International Polo’s International Rules for Polo except as set out in “FIP Snow Polo World Cup 2017”, “Official Rules and Regulations”

 

Size of the Field: 170 yards x 80 yards (155 meters x 73 meters) plus the safety zones: 30 yards (27 meters) at the North end & 45 yards (41 meters) at the South end
