TEN TEAMS WILL PLAY FOR TITLE AT FRENCH RIVIERA CLUB
The International Polo Cup, the July’s first tournament at St. Tropez Polo Club, will kick off on Thursday July 7. The tournament will feature two levels: 12-15 goals and 8-10 goals. Each level will showcase five teams.
“It is a very important tournament, an international one, which is also part of the World Polo Tour,” states Justin Gaunt, Director of the French club. “The 2016 edition brings much,” he adds. “The upcoming opening of the clubhouse, which will feature many facilities for patrons and players, is very exciting.”
Action will kick off on Thursday July 7, at 10am, with a match between Antelope and Dark Ice/Lions Polo Team (8-10 goal). Finals for both the 10-goal and 15-goal are due on Sunday, July 17 – a day that will include a great Sunday Polo event.
In addition, the traditional teams parade will take place on Friday 8, with all the players riding their horses through the streets of the town to the Port de Saint Tropez. They will enjoy an official reception at the Mairie de Saint Tropez, the city Town Hall, a must of the tropezienne season.
“We will keep working to improve the fields, with the idea of attracting better teams. Fields 3 and 4 are ready after a lot of hard work. The results are there – two high quality fields. Our priority is to give everybody who come to the club the possibility to enjoy the season and have fun,” concludes Gaunt.
The order of play for the opening matchday for the International Polo Cup will be the following:
8-10 Goals:
10am: Antelope vs Dark Ice/Lions Polo Team, Field 4.
11am: St Tropez Polo Team vs Sezz, Field 4.
12-15 Goals:
5pm: Monte Carlo Polo Team vs Pull Love, Field 3.
6:30pm: VT Wealth Management vs F Polo Team, Field 3.
Umpires: Juan José Díaz Alberdi, Federico Martelli and Esteban Ferrari.
