Traditionally the first trophy of the season at Cowdray Park Polo Club, the historic Tyro Cup was won again by 2015 winners Cowdray Vikings in a convincing 8-4 victory over Jaeger-LeCoultre/Hurlingham Media.
Seven teams entered the 12 goal tournament and playing alongside Lila Pearson were her son George (2 goals) at 2, Chris Mackenzie (6 goals) at 3 and Ed Hitchman (5 goals) at Back.
The award for Best Playing Pony went to Muppet, owned by James Beim and played by Ed Hitchman.
In the subsidiary final, Romilla Arber’s Four Quarters Black team beat Andre Fattal’s River team 5-4.
Coming up at the weekend Cowdray Park has the Final of the 4 goal Spring Cup on Saturday 14th May. The Final of the 8 goal Barrett Cup and the 22 goal Trippetts Challenge Cup take place on Sunday 15th May.
