February 6, 2016 the Moscow Polo Club will open a new winter season with the Moscow Snow Polo Championship 2016
Until recently, snow polo competitions could be counted on the fingers of one hand:
The season opened in December with a tournament in Aspen (Colorado, USA) in January it proceeded with Megeve (Francia), Kitzbühel (Austria), St. Moritz (Switzerland), and ended in February in the Italian Cortina d´Ampezzo. For several years now winter tournaments are also held at the Moscow Polo Club wich allows fans of the game in Russia to plunge into the atmosphere of the “sport of kings” in an unusual winter conditions.
Competitions are held on the training field, smaller than usual, with snow being specially compacted until a perfectly surface. Teams consisting of 3 player use a bigger orange ball and horses are shod in a special way in order not to slip and maintain maneuverability.
Moscow Snow Polo Championship 2016 will open a new tournament season at the Moscow Polo Club. The championship will give players an opportunity to show their skills in a harsh Russian winter, and the audience – to enjoy a beautiful game.
Guests will watch the game from a heated marquee raising the spirits with warming Woodford Reserve cocktails, hot tea and mulled wine. Cozy atmosphere of hospitality will make the tournament truly memorable.
