On Thursday, November 2, official photos of the 124th Argentina Open took place, organised by the Argentine Association of Polo (AAP). The images captured both female and male players, set to play their respective championships, at The Obelisk, Buenos Aires’ most famous monument.
AAP President, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, was joined by the following players, each representing their team:
* Pablo Mac Donough (La Dolfina)
* Polito Pieres (Ellerstina)
* Facundo Sola (Alegría)
* Miguel Novillo Astrada (La Aguada Las Monjitas)
* Alfredo Cappella Barabucci (La Albertina)
* Magoo Laprida (Cría Yatay)
* Juan Gris Zavaleta (La Irenita)
* Rodrigo Rueda (La Esquina Los Machitos)
* Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario (Chapaleufú)
* Juan M. Zubía (in place of the players of La Dolfina Polo Ranch).
Representing the Female Argentine Open were:
* Paola Martínez (La Dolfina Brava II)
* Clara Cassino (Ellerstina)
* Annabel Mc Naught-Davis (La Varzea Goose Creek)
* Milagros Fernández Araujo (La Dolfina Brava)
* Clarisa Echezarreta (Santa María de Lobos)
* Camila Rossi (La Dolfina Cría Fax)
After the official images were taken, players signed polo balls for approaching fans. The event, which concluded with a press conference at the polo fields in Palermo, marked a turning point in Argentine polo.
The Argentine Open Polo Championship begins on Saturday with the following matches:
– 2pm, ground 2: La Irenita vs La Esquina Los Machitos
– 4:30pm, ground 1: La Aguada Las Monjitas vs La Albertina Abu Dhabi
