22 Goal UK Season Teams Ready and Raring
The UK summer season is upon us, which only means one thing: the world’s best players are readying their yards for a series of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. This morning, The Cartier Queen’s Cup 11 team line-up was officially announced and it wouldn’t be polo without a shake-up of the illustrious teams’ line-ups.
Despite the well-documented visa issues, it is a relief that the UK high goal season seems to have come off relatively unscathed. There have however been a series of notable changes. The world number one Adolfo Cambiaso (and winner of the US Triple Crown with Valiente) will now be playing for Ben Soleimani’s RH team following the pulling out of his long-term team Dubai. The Pieres duo, Gonzalito and Facundo, will once again grace the turf alongside patron Top Srivaddhanaprabha. But, as with a healthy majority of these teams, rumour has it that their final position is to be filled by a young British player, yet to named.
This year, the world’s best teams have a strong smattering of British talent, from the likes of Matt Perry & Jack Hyde, to the all-Brit El Remanso with Charlie Hanbury at the helm.
Laurent Feniou, Managing Director of Cartier UK, will make the draw (who plays who) at Guards Polo Club on Monday 8 May and the first matches are expected to be scheduled for Tuesday 23 May. Three weeks of 22 goal polo will conclude with the Final, historically played in front of HM The Queen, on Sunday 18 June at Guards Polo Club.
