First Bank Private Banking and MRS are the marquee sponsors driving the ongoing African Patrons Cup Polo Tournament at the Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club, Kaduna. Three high-goal and ten medium- goal teams are battling to get their hands on the Patrons Cup and the General Hassan Cup respectively as the first round of the tournament and matches for the second round started.
Defending champions Almat looks set to claim a place in the final of the General Hassan cup with an 8 – 2 1/2 rout of Agad. With the final two places set to be determined on goal difference, Almat needed as many goals as they could muster against Agad, and IdI Badamasi, Nura Suleiman and Aliyu Tijani duly ratcheted up the needed goals to rout the Dantatas.
In the lack-luster first match of the day, Kaduna A4E Farms held Kano GWG Oil to a 4-4 draw, ensuring the elimination of both teams from the tournament even as A4E still has one more preliminary round match to play.
