A CLOSE VICTORY FOR RAJNIGANDHA ACHIEVERS ON DAY 3 OF BHOPAL PATAUDI CUP

THE THIRD DAY OF THE BHOPAL-PATAUDI CUP 2018 GAVE RISE TO SOME EXCITING MOMENTS. GET AN INSIGHT OF ALL THE MATCHES WITH LA POLO.

 

The third day of Bhopal Pataudi Polo Cup saw some aggressive polo action.
The first match began at 2:00 pm at AEC Ground No I between 61 Cavalry and Rajnigandha Achievers. The 61 Cavalry had Capt. Mritunjay Chauhan(-2), Mr. Akshay Malik(0), Lt. Col. Vishal Chauhan (+4) and Col. Ravi Rathore(+5) as the participants; while Rajnigandha Achievers had Sep Ravindra Mang (-2), Mr Vandit Golecha (0), Mr Salim Azmi (+3) and Mr Matthew Philip Perry (+6). 61 Cavalry played in red while Rajnigandha Achievers Polo team played in blue. The umpires of the match were Mr Shamsheer Ali and Mr Pranav Kapur.


The first match of the day took off with Col Ravi Rathore’s goal. Col Ravi Rathore helped 61 Cavalry get in the front. Matthew Philip Perry quickly replied back with a goal. The game was levelled at 1 – 1 when Matthew Perry scored another one. The score after Perry’s goal was 2 – 1. Col Ravi Rathore scored to level the scores. Matthew Perry scored the final goal of the first chukker. The first chukker ended with Rajnigandha Achievers in the lead by 3 – 2.

Matthew Perry opened the second chukker with a goal. Salim Azmi added one more goal to Rajnigandha Achiever’s tally. The score was 5 – 2 after Salim Azmi’s goal. Col Ravi Rathore scored a goal to help 61 Cavalry get closer to Rajnigandha Achievers. The first half ended with Ravi Rathore’s goal. The score after the first half was 5 – 3 with Rajnigandha Achievers in the lead.

The third chukker opened with a goal from Vandit Golecha. Rajnigandha Achievers were leading the match by 6 – 3 now. Not many goals were scored in the third chukker. Vishal Singh scored a goal for 61 Cavalry in the closing minutes of the third chukker. Rajnigandha Achievers were leading after the third chukker by 6 – 4.

The fourth chukker was quite intense and Matthew Perry scored the opening goal of the fourth chukker. The score was 7 – 4 after Matthew Perry’s goal. Rajnigandha Achievers were leading the match but 61 Cavalry were back in the game with Col Ravi Rathore’s goal. The score after Ravi Rathore’s goal was 7 – 5. Vishal Singh scored a goal just after Ravi Rathore’s goal. The score was 7 – 6 after Vishal Singh’s goal. 61 Cavalry Polo team weren’t able to score any more goals. Rajnigandha Achievers win the match on a single goal margin. The final score was 7 – 6.

An easy victory for Jindal Panther Polo team
 

After the tight match between the 61 Cavalry and Rajnigandha Achievers, it was time to get ready for the second match. The match got in action at AEC Ground No I at 3:00 pm where the participant teams were ASC Polo team and Jindal Panther Polo team. Team ASC compiled of Mr Basheer Ali (+5), Sep Sunil Kumar(-2), Mr Naveen Singh(+2), and Col. GS Pandher, SM (+2). The Jindal Panther Polo team had Mr Subham Gupta (-2), Mr Tom Brodie (+4), Mr Simran Singh Shergill (+6) and Mr Kartikey Singh (0). The umpires of the match were Mr Pranav Kapur and Mr Manolo Llorente. Jindal Panthers were covered in blue while ASC Polo team played in black.

ASC Polo Team played with a +7 handicap and were given a 0.5 point lead. Simran Singh Shergill opened the scoring with two goals. The score was 2 – 0.5 when Basheer Ali scored the first goal for ASC Polo team. Simran Singh Shergill scored two more to end the first chukker. Jindal Panther Polo team were leading by 4 – 1.5 after the first chukker.

Naveen Singh and Basheer Ali scored a goal each in the second chukker to help ASC Polo team get back in the game. The score after their goals was 4 – 3.5. Tom Brodie scored twice for Rajnigandha Achievers. The score after the first half was 6 – 3.5.

Simran Singh Shergill completely dominated the third chukker. He scored three goals to give Jindal Panther a good lead after the third chukker. Jindal Panther didn’t allow ASC Polo team to score a single goal in the third chukker. The score after the third chukker was 9 – 3.5 with Jindal Panther polo team in the lead.

ASC Polo team tried to come back in the game in the last chukker but it was too late to recover. Basheer Ali scored thrice in the last chukker. The score after Basheer Ali’s goals was 9 – 6.5. It was an easy victory for the Jindal Panther Polo team. Jindal Panthers won the match by 9 – 6.5

An intense match between LA Pegasus Polo Titans and Sona Polo
 

The third match started at 4:00 pm at AEC Ground No I. The match was battled between LA Pegasus Polo-Titans and Sona Polo. The LA Pegasus Polo-Titans composed the team with Mr. Hurr Ali(-2), Mr. Mitesh Mehta(+1), Mr. Siddhant Sharma(+4), and Mr. Samir Suhag(+5). The Sona Polo team, on the other hand, had Mr. Sameer Mecca (-2), Mr. Kuldeep Singh Rathore (+2), Mr. Bhawani Singh Kalvi (+2) and Mr. Abhimanyu Pathak (+5). The umpires of the match were Mr. Pranav Kapur and Mr. Simran Singh Shergill.

The match took unpredictable turns throughout, starting off with LA Pegasus Polo – Titans at 0 while Sona Polo at 0.5. Mitesh Singh scored the first goal of the match. Sameer Mecca scored just after Mitesh Singh. The score was 1.5 – 1 with Sona Polo in the lead. Samir Suhag scored twice for LA Pegasus Polo Titans. The first chukker ended at 3 – 1.5 with LA Pegasus Polo Titans in the lead.

The second chukker kicked off with Bhawani Singh Kalvi’s goal. Mitesh Singh scored for LA Pegasus Polo titans to extend their lead. The match was neck to neck and the winner was unpredictable. Samir Suhag scored in the closing minutes of the first half. LA Pegasus Polo Titans were leading after the first half by 5 – 2.5.

One goal each was scored in the third and the fourth chukker. Both the goals were scored by Sona Polo. LA Pegasus Polo Titans couldn’t score in either chukker but managed to win the game by a margin of 0.5. A goal from Abhimanyu Pathak and Bhawani Kalvi brought them close to the victory. But two goals weren’t enough to win the game. The final score was 5 – 4.5 and LA Pegasus Polo Titans were able to win the game.
