Stage set for semi-finals of N Hazari & Dr N Tombi State Polo tourney

MPSC-A and Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A outlasted their respective rivals today to complete the semi-finals line up of the 34th N Hazari & Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament, 2018 being organized by the Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

MPSC-B will face X-Polo Club in the first semi-final match tomorrow at 1 pm while MPSC-A will lock horns with Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A in the second semi-final match at 2 pm.

MPSC-A defeated K&MM Riding School by 5-2 margin to book the semi-final berth today.

MPSC dominated the proceeding throughout though it was a low scoring quarter final tie.

After a goalless first chukker, S Bimol rode deep into K&MM Riding schools end and hit the opener to give MPSC-A 1-0 lead till second chukker.

T Roshan, S Bimol and H Abung Khuman then made their way and chipped in one goal each to make it 4-0 at the end of the third chukker.

T Roshan hit a single in the last chukker to complete the scoring for MPSC-A while the lacklustre K&MM Riding School managed two goals in this chukker through the sticks of H Mohindro and L Thomson.

Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A, on the other hand, drubbed Tekcham Polo Club by 7-1 goals to advance into the last 4 round of the competition.

A Basanta and L Kokeshor scored one goal each to give Chingkheihunba Polo Club a 2-1 lead in the first chukker.

It was Soibam Ranjit who scored the lone goal for the Tekcham side in this, chukker.

The second chukker saw Chingkheihunba Polo Club raced ahead with one goal each coming from Th Kaoba and Leishemba Takhellambam to make it 4-1 while the third chukker witnessed P Jotin hit a single before Leishemba and Kaoba took honour to slot one goal each in the last chukker and helped Chingkheihunba Polo Club cruise to the semi-final with a comfortable 7-1 win.
