PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — Newport Polo is excited to draw the winner this weekend of the Turkish Airlines grand prize trip for two anywhere in the world.
The raffle drawing will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, for the conclusion of its 2019 season at the Turkish Airlines Finals – a Battle of the Sexes at 4 p.m. in the Newport International Polo Series, presented by Brahmin.
“We’ve witnessed great polo this season, and a highlight has been hosting the Women’s East Coast Open Tournament, where some of the top players in the world demonstrated that women players can be every bit as talented and competitive as their male counterparts. With ideal conditions expected for the heated rematch this Saturday in the ultimate showdown, the Newport Women taking on the Newport Men will not disappoint,” explains Dan Keating, Polo Series Founder. “This will be the 3rd time in our history that we’ve lined up a Battle of the Sexes, and it has become the players’ most-awaited annual tradition.”
In 1993, the Newport International Polo Series staged its original Battle of the Sexes in a fundraising campaign for endangered species, with celebrity polo players including an all women’s team from California led by actress Stephanie Powers, and Ron Ferguson among the male notables. The large crowd on hand also witnessed the famous Cheetah Run across the polo field.
After 6 periods, called chukkers, the Turkish Airlines Finals match will conclude with the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Toast & Trophy Presentation, Turkish Airlines Grand Prize Drawing for a trip for 2 on Turkish Airlines to the winner’s choice of more countries than any other airline, as well as an autograph signing and cocktail hour around the firepit at the Patio Bar to meet the players.
The polo grounds are located at historic Glen Farm, 250 Linden Lane, Portsmouth RI. Tickets to the polo match and associated events are available online at www.nptpolo.com.
During the match, the weekly Door Prize drawing will award a pair of 2020 Season Passes to one lucky winner, and our contest for the Best Tailgate will reward a coveted prize and jumbotron moment of fame, courtesy of Stella Artois. Specialty vendors and concessionaires will be present in the Hospitality village at the polo grounds including the Davitt Pavilion & Patio Bar, Horseshoe Wine Bar, Veuve Clicquot Champagne Cart, Newport Polo Pro Shop, and several other unique specialty vendors and gourmet food truck concessionaires.
The Newport International Polo Series is proud to present its 2019 sponsors including Gallo Thomas Insurance, Brahmin, Davitt Inc., Modern Luxury/Boston Common, The Chanler at Cliff Walk, Hotel Viking, The Vanderbilt, Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, Vanderbilt International Properties, Turkish Airlines, Veuve Clicquot, Clarke Cooke House, Stella Artois, Rockstar Limo, Atria Senior Living, Newport Daily News, McGrath Clambakes, Goslings Rum, Where Boston, Equine Journal, Classical 95.9 WCRI. “Our sponsors have been with us since the beginning.
