X Polo Club, Wangkhei will lock horns with Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC)-B tomorrow at 2 pm in the ultimate clash of the 35th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament-2019 being organised under the auspices of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first semi-final match held today, after days of postponement due to rain, saw X Polo shower a barrage of shots with L Atangba and P Ojit leading the attack to overwhelm K&MM Riding School-A, Singjamei by 11-3 goals.
The demolition work started early with L Atangba scoring the opener to draw level for X Polo Club after Ch Ajit had handed K&MM Riding School-A the lead and P Ojit scored twice to make it 3-1 till the first chukker.
Most of the scoring of the game was seen in the second chukker in which Th Jacob scored a single before his team mates L Atangba and P Ojit grabbed three goals each to give their team an unassailable lead.
W Johny of K&MM RS-A too found the target twice but his effort was not enough to reduce the deficit.
M Tolongkhomba then struck home the last goal in the third chukker and completed the 11-3 decimation.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final match of the tournament, MPSC-B sealed a hard fought 6-5 win against Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A, Kongpal to earn the final place.
The two teams were evenly poised the game throughout however goals by H Abungkhuman in the second and the third chukker proved fatal for the Kongpal team.
The first chukker ended in a 3-3 draw with both teams producing their bests.
T Pradeepkumar scored all the three goals for MPSC-B in this chukker while Leishemba Takhellambam scored twice and P Jotin added a single to put Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A on level terms.
H Abungkhuman then struck two goals in the second chukker to put MPSC-B ahead as Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A’s P Jotin scored a single, before completing his treble in the third chukker.
After trailing by two goals till the third chukker, Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A managed to grab another through A Basanta in the last chukker but the team’s effort to equalise did not yield any positie result till the end.
