Casa Fagliano is the story of more than a hundred years of traditional craftmanship and the rone one family had in the history of polo in Argentina.Polo arrived in Argentina through the British pioneers, after themselves discovering this ancient sport in India, and later exporting it, first to their homeland and then, wherever they were present. in the 18th Century, the argentines invited the British to develop their agriculture by means of mechanization.
And of course, given vast lands and their inherent passion for horses as well as the acquaintance with the Gaucho and the recent discovery of this new fashionable sport, the British quickly realized that Argentina is polo paradise.At that same time, in 1892 Pedro and Giacomina Fagliano, Italian migrants from Genova, opened their shoe workshop in Hurlingham, close to where the British held their Estancias. In 1920, an English polo player entered Casa Fagliano and asked for his boots to be repaired. A few days later, he returned, delighted with the result and immediately asked the craftsmen if they could manufacture another pair from scratch. And so began a specialization that would place the Fagliano amongst the most renowned polo boot craftsmen in the world.
A century and five generations later, the Fagliano craftsmen are still based in the same small workshop and still using the same sewing machine their ancestors used. There is a high level of exclusivity involved with owning a pair of Casa Fagliano. The craftsmen only produce up to 80 pairs a year. Everything is handmade and the slogan of the brand has always been: “quality over quantity”. The clientele is not only limited to the professional polo payers, but also royalty (British Royal Family, King of Spain, Brunei) as well as movie stars (Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones).The Fagliano craftsmen have used their knowledge and expertise of the polo boot and applied it to dress the polo player off his horse.
