Ifza Dubai signs sponsorship deal with Al Habtoor Polo

High-profile event aimed to serve as catalyst to forge business partnerships

The International Free Zone Authority (Ifza) has signed an agreement with the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club (AHPRC) to sponsor the latter’s polo season for 2020-21, which is part of the former’s strategy of bringing common ground to partners and stakeholders at high-profile gatherings.

The signing ceremony was attended by Martin G. Pedersen, chairman of Ifza; Rashid Khalaf Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Trading Enterprises; and Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor, vice-chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group.

Ifza, which is headquartered at Dubai Silicon Oasis, believes that ‘Business is a game, best played on greener pastures’. It is looking at such events to act as a catalyst to introduce the dynamic vision of Ifza, which is to attract investors to the region’s No.1 business hub, Dubai, and serve both the local and international business community.

Ifza Dubai provides local and international businesses platforms, infrastructure and location that optimise the benefits of the UAE’s strategic geographic position, world-class infrastructure and business- and tax-friendly environment. It provides competitive free zone licence packages, fast and efficient incorporation and an expert team with up-to-date knowledge on rules and regulations to ensure that your client’s business foundation is laid in a timely and secure manner.

“As one of the leading free zones in the UAE, it is an important part of our focus to support activities in the UAE that mirror our aspirations of making an impact locally and globally,” Ifza chairman Martin G. Pedersen said in a statement.

“These events show how Dubai and the UAE are leading the way in creating normality and stability. That, for us, is a win-win strategy. We are looking forward to winning together as a community.”

“Having the support of one of the leading free zones in the UAE serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of every team member that has kept the UAE at the forefront of the international polo-playing scene over the years,” Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor added.

A number of VIPs also participated in matches, most notably Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah, the Regent and Crown Prince of Pahang, Malaysia.

The agreement makes Ifza the team sponsor of the Mahra Polo Team and the official sponsor of the season. It will also cover a number of the top events in the UAE polo calendar, including the Sir Winston Churchill Cup 2020, Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2021 and the inaugural Ifza Invitational Polo.
