Equus Design & Build are delighted to announce a new project and partnership with the Beaufort Polo Club, home to the famous Tomlinson dynasty located in the heart of the Cotswolds. Equus Design & Build have been appointed by the Beaufort Polo Club to deliver a new polo arena, capable of withstanding polo all year round. Deeply rooted within polo, Equus Design & Build have planned, designed, and completed more polo arenas and developments than any other equestrian specialist contractor, with projects in China, Spain, and Poland. The Beaufort Polo Club are developing their facilities with the addition of an all-weather polo arena, the planning permission, design and build has been completed by Equus Design & Build. The new 90m by 45m all-weather polo arena promises to bring with it an exciting new era of polo at the Beaufort Polo Club offering the ability to play matches and train all year round.
Polo is a gladiatorial sport that requires a fast, flat and secure surface which is also soft enough to not damage the horse when turning sharply at speed. As well as a specialised surface, the surround (or fence) which stretches around the edge of the arena also has specific requirements – it must be robust and angled to provide projection of the ball, as well as seamlessly merging with the main entrance and exit gate. Following HPA guidelines, the new goals have a smooth entrance to both sides as angled goals can cause injury to the horses’ legs. As well as creating the perfect stage for top level polo, Equus Design & Build have crafted the new arena at the Beaufort Polo Club to suit the needs of the spectator too with an up close viewing gallery fitted tightly to the arena fence, providing prime viewing for all the action. The arena is finished with netting to not disrupt play, and floodlighting, adding an element of excitement to evening polo.

The Beaufort Polo Club was revived by Simon and Clare Tomlinson in 1989 with two main objectives; to encourage new players to learn and improve their skills as well as provide first class facilities for players and spectators. The Beaufort Polo Club plays host to the Gloucestershire Festival of Polo in June and prides itself on offering a fantastic experience for all the family. The polo season runs from May to September and the club is always open to visitors.
