Following the success of the AlUla Desert Polo last January, and the first ever official polo event in Saudi Arabia, that featured the four members of La Dolfina, the seven times winners of the Argentine Open, the Cañuelas-based foursome announced their bond with the body presided by Amr Zedan, to form La Dolfina Saudi Polo Team, who will compete in the 2020 Triple Crown.
Therefore, the Saudi Polo Federation, established in 2018, is stepping into a reamarkable stage of growth, by deepening their committment with the development of polo in Saudi Arabia.
Amr Zedan, President of the Saudi Polo Federation, said: “This is a very helpful and exciting partnership for us together with the most successful and famous polo team worldwide. This partnership will definelty put he level of the sport at its highest within the country”.
The multiple winner of the Dubai Gold Cup, also stated: “Working in close collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla, we were delighted to host La Dolfina in January this year and we look forward to bringing the team back to AlUla as La Dolfina Saudi Polo Team in 2021.”
Meanwhile, Adolfo Cambiaso, added: “We traveled to AlUla for the Desert Polo in January and were blown away by the ambition and passion for the sport from the Saudi Polo Federation”.
He continued by saying, “AlUla Desert Polo was an amazing event that introduced polo to Saudi Arabia but also helped the polo world to realize that Saudi is serious about its goals in the sport. AlUla is a UNESCO world heritage site, one of the most unique and beautiful locations I have ever played in and is certainly something I will never forget.”
With a tentative kick-off date on Monday November 2, the Tortugas Open is be the first leg of the 2020 Triple Crown, and will see La Dolfina Saudi looking for the title that slipped in 2019.
In the first matches, it is expected to play a lineup comprised by Adolfo Cambiaso, David Stirling, Pablo Mac Donough and Poroto Cambiaso, while awaiting Juan Martin Nero’s full recovering.
