The polo season in Argentina is just around the corner. Teams and horses are getting ready for the year’s most awaited polo event, that, as usual, will have the culminating stage with the Triple Crown and the much anticipated championship match of the Argentine Open.
But there’s the perfect “warm-up” while waiting for the most coveted polo trophy of the world; and it will be a historic occasion that will mark the 56th. Jockey Club Open Thai Polo Cup, one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season and that, unfortunately, it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But this is 2021 and one thing is for sure – the Jockey Club Open is back, reloaded and better and ever, organised no less by Harald Link’s Thai Polo organisation, with the support of Minuto Siete Polo. And the best is that the competition will be hosted in its original home, the iconic club located in San Isidro. It is worth noting that the Jockey Club Open was played for the last time in 2019, with the final, between Pilot and Valiente, was played and Palermo, with Curtis Pilot’s lineup victorious.
The Jockey Club Open Thai Polo Cup gives patrons the chance to compete alongside the best players in the world in an open format tournament. The high goalers, on the other hand, see it as a perfect opportunity to get into the swing of things before the Triple Crown kicks off. Pilot will be back, but without Curtis, under the name of Ellerstina Pilot; but another important patron, Joevy Beh, will be playing alongside no less than Adolfo Cambiaso.
The 56th. Jockey Club Open Thai Polo Cup will see six teams between 30 and 34 goals, compete, and will run from Thursday September 23 and Saturday October 2. In addition, the attention will not only fall on the high level of organisation and the players’ skills on the field, but on the challenge implied in hosting the tournament in its original home, the Jockey Club in San Isidro, once again. Battro Polo Fields worked hard on grounds one and two to ensure that they are in perfect conditions when the time comes to play.
Thai Polo’s involvement within the organisation will not only relate to the event itself, but in bringing the brand’s excellence to competition. Their motto ‘high quality, high hospitality,’ is sure to provide the Jockey Club Open with the characteristic warmth of Thai Polo, and a superior set up in terms of organisation.
And there’s more, because the 56th. Jockey Club Open Thai Polo Cup WILL BE STREAMED LIVE ON POLOLINE TV.
The combination of Harald Link’s Thai Polo organisation, the efficiency of Minuto Siete and the experience and hard work of Battro field will secure the Jockey Club Thai Polo Cup a spectacular homecoming.
Action is due to start on September 23 with two games: La Irenita vs. La H and Ellerstina Pilot vs. La Ensenada.
