‘Learn from a Legend’ Will Rogers Legacy Polo Cup set for Sept. 18

TULSA – The Tulsa Polo Club will host the Will Rogers Legacy Polo Cup from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Mohawk Park.

The event’s theme “Learn from a Legend” centers around preserving the lessons learned in the life of the “Oklahoma Kid” Will Rogers. The Cherokee humanitarian and humorist experienced great likeability in his lifetime. The Will Rogers Legacy Polo Cup will honor Rogers’s status and celebrate his Cherokee heritage.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with opening ceremonies beginning at 4:45 p.m. The polo match begins at 5 p.m. A beer and champagne divot stomp begins at 6 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Music and entertainment follow until 10 p.m.

The Will Rogers Memorial Foundation will have a member appreciation tent at the event to recognize and thank those who continue to support the foundation and its mission to expand the Rogers’s legacy. Foundation members (who show a member ID card) will have free admission and free food at the event.

A ceremony naming a new Will Rogers Scout District will also be a part of the day’s activities. Scouts will be admitted free, and scouts’ families will be admitted at half price.

The event will have a cash bar, a beer trailer and several food trucks on site. Entertainment and children’s activities will also be offered. A big-screen television will be available for watching the Oklahoma State/Boise State game.

Tickets are required and are now for sale from $10 to $250. VIP seating and tailgates are available. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore.
