LAHORE: Diamond Paints and FG/Din won the opening-day matches of the Happy Cow Cheese Polo for Peace Cup 2021 here at the Jinnah Polo Fields (JPF) on Tuesday.
A magnificent six-goal contribution from Saqib Khan Khakwani helped Diamond Paints edge out Total Nutrition 8-7 in a thrilling match.
Besides Saqib other scorers for the winners were Mir Shoaib Ahmad and Adnan Jalil Azam, who chipped in with one goal each.
From the losing side, Bilal Haye struck five goals while Ahmad Zubair Butt scored twice. A hat-trick by Mumtaz Abbas Niazi guided FG/Din to a comfortable 7-3 win over Rijas Development/Master Paints.
Mohammad Ali pumped in a brace and Sheikh Rafay and Abbas Mukhtar scored one each for the victors.
From the losing team Lt Col Omer Minhas made two goals and Farasat Ali Chatha managed to score one.
