With the surge in Covid19 cases in the state, the Manipur government has clamped night curfew from 8pm to 4am till 30 April 2021.
In compliance with the State Government’s directive issued in view on the rising COVID-19 cases, many sporting events including being underway in Manipur have been postponed until further notification.
The events which are postponed for time being include the 1st Imphal West Polo Tournament, 2nd State Level Invitation Boxing Championship and district level football league tournaments organised by DFA Thoubal.
Due to this, many sporting events in Manipur have been postponed until further notice.
The Imphal West Polo Tournament is organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association in collaboration with the Brighter Club at Awang Potsangbam Khullen Makha Lampak.
The State Level Invitation Boxing Championship for sub-junior boys and girls and junior boys and girls was to be held from 21 to 25 April at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex Boxing Arena under the aegis of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association.
The Manipur government has also issued new guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) including:
Size of family gatherings for social, religious and customary ceremonies should be restricted to 50 or less persons strictly. This was 50% of space capacity until the new SOPs were announced. Size of gatherings for religious, sports, entertainment and cultural functions should be restricted to 100 or less persons. The number was 50% of space capacity until now.
