The draw of the upcoming British Open Polo Championships for the Cowdray Gold Cup took place on Monday June 6, at Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in Midhurst, West Sussex.
Cowdray Park Polo Club’s premier competition was first established in 1956 by Lord Weetman John Churchill Pearson, Third Viscount Cowdray, the major force in the revival of polo in England after the devastating Second World War. Considered as one of the most important polo tournaments worldwide as well as a highlight within the British season, the Gold Cup is one of the three Grand Slams of Polo, alongside the Argentine Open and the US Open.
The biggest news of the tournament is the comeback of Talandracas, Edouard Carmignac’s French foursome, who didn’t play the Queen’s Cup.
the 2022 edition of the British Open Polo Championships for the Cowdray Gold Cup, will run through Tuesday June 21 and Sunday July 17, and will see fourteen teams up to 22 goals, compete for the coveted golden trophy.
