Tentha Polo Club and Laaman Sagol Club reached the quarterfinals of the 1st Chief Minister’s Sagol Kangjei Championship 2022 in contrasting styles on Sunday at Kangla.
Tentha Polo Club galloped to a convincing 16-11 victory against Nambul Mapal Polo Club in the day’s first match.
Heigrujam Muhindro Singh made the most of the game in his side’s triumph en route to the last four.
He scored five goals as teammate Soibam Ranjit Singh did his bit with a treble while Khundrakpam Tombi Singh, Moirangthem Manihar Singh and Moirangthem Thoma Singh scored a double each, coupled with one apiece from Moirangthem Doren Singh and Soibam Sobha Singh.
On the other hand, Wahengbam Johny claimed five goals, Chongham Ajit Singha got three, Longjam Dhaneshwor Singh scored two and Longjam Tarun Singh contributed one for Nambul Mapal Polo Club.
In a keenly contested second match, Laaman Sagol Club eked out a 1-0 success against CRPF Polo Team.
Wangkhem Abothe Singh turned hero as his goal was what the Laaman Sagol riders needed to secure their last-eight entry.
