LAHORE – Remington Pharma on Friday outpaced FG/Din Polo team by 5½-4 to qualify for the New Year Polo Cup 2021/22 main final, where they will take on Islam Group polo team.
Basel Faisal Khokhar and Agha Musa Ali were the heroes of the day from team Remington Pharma, as they were in sublime form and displayed high-quality horses and mallets work. Both contributed with a beautiful brace each while Mustafa Aziz converted one goal while they had also a half goal handicap advantage.
Farhad Shaikh played well from team FG/Din Polo by thrashing in two tremendous goals while his teammates Raffay Shaikh and Amin Rehman converted one goal apiece but, in the end, their efforts were futile as they lost the match with a close margin of 4-5½. Farasat Ali Chatha and M Raza Behboudi officiated the match as field umpires.
The enthralling match began on a high pace as both the teams started attacking each other’s goal with more power and venom and as a result, both the sides succeeded in converting two goals each to make it 2-all. The second chukker was fully dominated by team FG/Din Polo, which banged in an impressive brace to gain a good 4-2 lead. Team FG/Din Polo couldn’t maintain their lead due to Remington Pharma players’ match-winning game plan and strategy as they started playing aggressive polo, which helped them smash in three goals – one in the third and two in the fourth chukker – to win the crucial match with a margin of 5 ½-4. They will now play main final against Islam Group Polo team.
