A jolly good polo show

The Ballito Polo Club recently welcomed former Springbok player Guy Benson as full-time professional and coach.

While tally-ho encouragements ruled on the playing field, gastronomic delights supplemented by gin and tonic stress relievers ensured a festive atmosphere at Saturday’s Picnic at the Polo fundraising event at the Oaklands Equestrian Estate.

Funds raised are for the benefit of the Ballito Polo Club.

The Maroupi Umhlali, Westown Shongweni and Ottowa polo clubs crossed mallets in anger on the battlefield to keep the large crowd entertained.

Westown Shongweni and Maroupi Umhlali squared off against each other first, with Shongweni closing off with a 8-5 victory.

In the second match Ottawa downed Westown 7-5, also narrowly beating Maroupi 8-7 in the third contest.
