Friday sees the start of the Karkloof Classic Polo Tournament

This tournament promises to be an unforgettable celebration of equestrian excellence, said the Karkloof Polo Club.

The 2023 Karkloof Classic Polo Tournament, the largest event on the South African Polo Association Calendar, takes place from today to Sunday, June 18.

With a line-up of 114 skilled polo players and over 500 magnificent horses, this tournament promises to be an unforgettable celebration of equestrian excellence, said the Karkloof Polo Club.

The club expressed its gratitude to the main sponsors of the event, including Garden City Commercials, Rapid Truck Bodies, KEY PMB Isuzu, Afrequip, and Midlands New Holland, “whose unwavering support has made this grand event possible, alongside other incredible tournament sponsors”.

Their commitment to the sport and their belief in the community has played a crucial role in shaping this remarkable tournament.

The Karkloof Polo Club has curated a weekend filled with entertainment and opportunities for all to enjoy.

The festivities kick off after the completion of Day 1 polo fixtures today at 5 pm with live music, sponsored by Amber Glades, setting the stage for a “winter evening of networking with local businesses and interacting with some of South Africa’s finest polo players”.

Friday’s programme

Friday’s programme continues with the club fundraising auction at 6 pm, offering an array of captivating items from The Platform Gallery and experiences up for bidding.

Attendees will have the chance to acquire unique pieces while supporting the growth and development of the sport they love.

Throughout the weekend, from 11 am to 3 pm, spectators will be treated to a series of thrilling polo games taking place on all four fields.

The display of skill, strategy and agility exhibited by the 114 polo players and their beautiful horses is sure to leave spectators in awe.

Admission to the tournament is free. Attendees can visit the Hilton Roundtable fundraising bar and food court.

The Karkloof Polo Club also extended its gratitude to the uMngeni municipality “for their invaluable support, which has helped create an unforgettable event that unites the local community”.
