The fifth and final tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series concluded with two exciting finals on the grounds of Al Habtoor Polo Club, with Habtoor Polo claiming the last title of the season that was at stake.
The afternoon opened with El Basha Polo and PBS Polo playing for the Subsidiary Final. PBS Polo began the match with a 0.5 goal advantage, but it was Habtoor Al Habtoor who opened the match and scored three back-to-back goals, along with a goal by Tariq Al Habtoor, ending the score in the first chukker with 4 goals to 0.5. Mohammed Khalid, from El Basha Polo, scored two goals in the penultimate and final chukker, ending the first match in favor of El Basha, with the score of 6 goals to 2.5.
The main final featured a match between Ankora-Lamar and Habtoor Polo, who had an advantage of 1.5 goal. Ankora-Lamar’s Khalid Alomran opened the score in the first chukker. The second chukker kicked off with a brilliant goal by Mohammed Al Habtoor, but ended with two goals from Haider Bangash and Khalid Alomran, with Ankora’s leading by half a goal towards the end of the first half. In the final moments of the Dubai Cup, both teams displayed tremendous polo skills but ultimately it was Habtoor Polo who clinched the title, following a 5.5-4 win.
Mr. Lukas Tremmel, General Manager of Al Habtoor Polo Resort, presented the awards to the participating teams. The Most Valuable Player was awarded to Khalaf Al Habtoor, while the Best Playing Pony was awarded to Billy, ridden by & owned by Khalid Alomran.
