Women’s Polo Opens Bill Field Invitational With Victory

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women’s polo team won its second straight game on Wednesday, defeating UC Davis 13-5 as part of the Bill Field Invitational at the Oxley Equestrian Center.

Isabelle Braden led the Big Red with six goals in the contest. Ava Ramachandran had four, Charlotte Book had two, and Samantha Symons had one.

“We’re thrilled that UC Davis was able to travel east to compete in our William S. Field Invitational this season,” Anthony Condo, the Peter B. Orthwein ’68 Head Coach of Polo, said. “Their program is undergoing a bit of a resurrection after a hiatus from college polo, and we’re happy to be able to help support them in their efforts. They proved to be a tough squad, but with our improvements on the field as of late, we were able to capitalize and get the win.”

The Big Red led 8-3 at the end of the second chukker and added five more goals in the second half. After losing 29-1 to the Maryland Polo Club last Friday, the Big Red has outscored its last two opponents 31-6.

“Credit to my team for their continued hard work and their unwavering to improve every single day,” Condo said.
