Grand Champions Hosts WPL Polo Pride; Adolfo Cambiaso Heads Field

The fourth annual World Polo League Polo Pride, one of the most colorful events to take over Grand Champions Polo Club Stadium, will be held Saturday.

Argentine Adolfo Cambiaso, the greatest polo player of all time coming off the U.S. Open Polo Championship, heads the field that also includes actor Sterling Jones, Vinny Sangaline, Talbot Logan, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, Jason Crowder and Agustin Arellano.

The event, set for 4:30 p.m., inspires awareness for inclusiveness and equality. The WPL Polo Pride creates a culture of togetherness and equality to inspire and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in sports and beyond.

Three teams will compete in a round robin tournament followed by a drag show. The teams are:

World Polo League (9): Kylie Jones, -2/Jason Alexander-Mohr, -2; Sterling Jones, 0, Vinny Sangaline, 1, Adolfo Cambiaso, 10.

Avatar Financial Group (9): Gonzalo Llosa, 0, Tyler Thompson, 0, Ryan Cronin-Prather, 1, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, 8.

CTV Sports (9): Jonathan Hays, 0, Talbot Logan, 0, Agustin Arellano, 3, Jason Crowder, 6.

Tickets remain on sale. General admission is $25, tailgate is $75 (includes entry into tailgate competition) and VIP $150 (includes lite bites, cocktails and entertainment). Tickets available at wplpride.com.

During the winter polo season, Grand Champions Polo Club, the nation’s largest and most innovative USPA-sanctioned polo club nestled in the heart of the world’s winter equestrian capital, celebrating its 17th anniversary, hosts a wide range of tournaments: 6, 8, 12, 20, and 26-goal leagues, The Polo School Women’s Polo League, WCT Finals, several PTF junior tournaments, World Polo League, WPL Polo Pride and Sunset Chukkers & Cocktails at both Grand Champions and Santa Rita.

Grand Champions and Santa Rita Polo Farm is the largest and most unique private 102-acre polo facility in Wellington with 212 stalls in nine self-contained barns, two tracks, five climate-controlled tack rooms, vet room, staff quarters, guest house and four polo fields with state-of-the-art underground irrigation and short work arena. The club has 11 well-manicured world-class fields at GCPC and Santa Rita.

Grand Champions Polo Club caters to men, women and youth polo players at all levels. Its’ expert staff can customize a complete playing experience including horses, pros and certified umpires in addition to lessons and practice sessions as part of its’ Polo On Demand program.

The Polo School, now located at the former Pony Express facility, operates in Wellington January through May and September through November. The stand-alone USPA-sanctioned polo club is dedicated to teaching polo to all ages, particularly grass roots youth. Its mission is to provide individuals opportunities in polo at every economic and ability level. The Polo School has nurtured several junior, men and women polo players now playing in the pro and amateur ranks since its inception.
