The youngest event of the Aiken Triple Crown is changing as it enters its 19th year.
Pacers and Polo will be held in a new location, the Whitney Polo Field, instead of the Powderhouse Polo Field.
The Whitney Polo Field is located at 420 Mead Ave., one block east of Whiskey Road as it snakes from downtown Aiken to the city’s Southside.
The Aiken Polo Club will take over management of the event, Susie Kneece of the Polo Club said Feb. 16.
She said the previous event manager, USC Aiken, rented the Powderhouse Polo Field but doesn’t have the manpower or expertise to put on a series of polo matches as well as the polo club can.
Proceeds from the event will continue to benefit USC Aiken’s equestrian programs — the school’s athletic teams are known as the Pacers – including the school’s polo and eventing teams.
Pacers and Polo is scheduled to take place March 30.
Tickets are divided into two types: VIP and general admission.
Kneece said the $100 VIP tickets allow access to the Pavilion, a bar and food. She added parking spots are $125 and come with two general admission tickets.
She also said the club is only selling 100 parking spaces and 200 spots in the Pavilion.
Gates will open at 10:30 a.m.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. with opening ceremonies followed by six seven-minute chukkers (periods of play), an intermission and an awards ceremony.
