U.S. Open Polo Championship postponed after player injury

Jornayvaz was transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

WELLINGTON, Fla. —

The U.S. Open Polo Championship game has been postponed after Valiente Polo team owner, Bob Jornayvaz was thrown off his horse this morning.

According to the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, units were dispatched to the National Polo Center in Wellington around 11:23 a.m.

Fire rescue declared Jornayvaz’s injuries as a trauma alert.

He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center via trauma hawk for treatment.

The National Polo Center says it’s uncommon to see an injury like this.
