HB Polo, King Power and Salkeld face a penalty shootout for the remaining place
The league games in The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup have now been completed. La Indiana, Talandracas, Thai Polo and VPS Healthcare Sifani all suffered a clean sweep of defeat against their opponents, knocking them out of the running for the Quarter Finals.
Mixed weather conditions seemed to be the order of the day as King Power and RH Polo took to the pitch at Trippetts Farm for the first of the last three league matches to be played. As the heavy pre-match shower turned to sun, a slightly altered King Power lined up (Tal Srivaddhanaprabha, Matt Perry, Sebastian Merlos and Marcos Di Paola) against RH Polo (Ben Soleimani, Francisco Elizalde, Nico Pieres and Santiago Von Wernich). With his two elder brothers already through to the quarter-finals (Facundo and Gonzalito with King Power Foxes), Nico Pieres looked set to try and make it three.
The South American team has been announced for The Royal Salute Coronation Cup on Saturday 25 July at Guards Polo Club. The visiting team will feature two Brazilians, an Argentine and a Chilean.
As the two Pieres brothers celebrated their final league match win, on the opposite lawn, cousin Polito lined up with team Talandracas (Eduardo Carmignac, Sapo Caset and Ali Paterson) to face the Hanbury brothers, Pelon Stirling and Ollie Cudmore
Great fun was had by all at the 5th NFU Mutual Norfolk Polo Festival - an event held annually on the last weekend of June with funds being raised to support The East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Apes Hill, who have already qualified for the quarter finals, took a narrow 11-10 win over Sifani in today's match of the Jaeger-LeCoultre British Gold Cup on Brooks Field.
Two weeks into the tournament stages of The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup, the stars of the game are rapidly making themselves known. Most teams have, by now, played three out of four of their set matches of this stage of the tournament.
It was a Dubai side looking to become the first team with four wins in the 2015 Jaeger-LeCoultre Gold Cup which rode onto Lawns 2 at Cowdray, facing an RH Polo team with only one win to date (RH Polo – 13 vs. 10 – HB Polo).
