HARRISBURG — Polo, nicknamed “The Sport of Kings,” might have seemed like an odd choice for entertainment at the 99th Pennsylvania Farm Show on Thursday.
But why not?
Orchard Hill (Steve Van Andel, Lucas Criado, Facundo Pieres and Remy Muller) continued to impress as they racked up a 12-11 win over Lechuza (Victor Vargas, Marcos Alberdi, Juan Martin Nero and Martin Espain) Thursday afternoon in the 2015 20-goal Joe Barry memorial Cup at the International Polo Club for a perfect 3-0 record in Bracket II competition.
I don’t think anyone really knows how old my favoritest horse, Shrimp, is … I think she is in her 20′s but I don’t know how far north of 20. Even at her age, with battle scars and an ugly capped hock, she has serious speed and agility. I can’t imagine what she was like when she was younger.
Polo For A Purpose is hosting a charity match Jan. 19 at the International Polo Club, 3667 120th Ave. S. in Wellington, to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
