Brits Victorious in First Matches of Malaysian Ladies Polo Championships
Head Hunters have won their first match against Windhorse in the opening matches of the Malaysian Ladies Polo Championships at the Royal Selangor Polo Club.
La Aguada won the Metropolitan Tournament Medium Goal, Open category, after his 8-7 victory over La Mancha, in a match that was played on the court 2 of Palermo. On Wednesday, also in Palermo, the teams of La Virgencita and El Paso Polo Ranch will play for the title, on the Handicap category.
On her one year anniversary of her first tournament game, Annabelle Gundlach led her Postage Stamp Farm team (Annabelle Gundlach, Brandon Phillips, Guille Aguero and Leo Mandelbaum) to a 9-4 win over Audi (Santos Bollini, Marc Ganzi, Luis Escobar and Juan Bollini) in the final of the 2015 Tackeria Invitational at the Grand Champions Polo Club Sunday afternoon.
Double Triple Crown title holders, La Dolfina, made an impressive debut at the Tortugas Open, with a heavy 20-6 win against Chapaleufu. Adolfo Cambiaso and Co. displayed their best form in their first match of the year, and dominated thoroghout the seven chukkers of play.
Matches Commenced Over the Weekend at Australian Club. Some of the last matches to be held at the Ellerston Polo Club have begun as the 2015 Archibald Cudmore Trophy and The Ellerston Spring Trophy will be played from Saturday 3 – Sunday 11 October
La Aguada/ Las Monjitas (Ignacio Toccalino, Pite Merlos, Eduardo N. Astrada Jr. and Alejandro Novillo Astrada) played the 39-goal Ellerstina polo team (Polito Pieres, Nico Pieres, Gonzalito Pieres and Facundo Pieres) evenly for the first two chukkers of Sunday afternoon’s Tortugas Open match, but an 11-1 run by the black-shirted Pieres clan in the third and fourth chukkers posted them to ten goal lead that La Aguada/Las Monjitas could never recover.
